This is a shot of the main drag of our town as I drove- 3 second exposure
heartphotography > Night Life II
While waiting at a stoplight at night, I took a few second exposure, while painting squares with the camera.
heartphotography > The Emergence
A multilayer photo collage 2 copies of the same photo were used- one was blurred and rotated, and the other was left in it's original form. Then I stacked them, withthe blurred layer on top. The eraser tool was used to erase the blurred image where the butterfly was layered below, bringing the butterfly into the blurred vortex.
heartphotography > Pinecone Bouquet

A digitally-arranged photocollage. I took the photos of the pinecones, and scanned the pressed leaves that we had found on hikes and in our backyard garden. The backgroundis a piece of handmade paper. All were arranged together in photoshop, and a dry brush filter was added to give each element some texture.
heartphotography > Tangerine Dream
This is a digitally-arranged photocollage. Textures were achieved by using scanned handmade paper as a background ,combined with different amounts of opacity of the photos layered on top of it. . Digital "painting" with different photoshop brushes was also used.

I wrote the double haiku from an online haiku blog that offers writing prompts. The prompt for this haiku was to use Beatles lyrics in a visual, yet original way. Can you guess the song I chose? (-:

The song/haiku inspired the collage later on..
heartphotography > This is a long exposure shot of Son on his scooter the other night. I received a nifty new flash for my camera, and was playing with it at sunset that night. The exposure was about 5 seconds long. The flash was done in second curtain mode, so the shutter opened first, and then the flash fired at the very end of the exposure. The narrow path was added in photoshop later.

Funny how abstractness brings up ideas....as I worked with this image, I saw Son's life journey, as I perceive he often perceives it. The shadow behind him seems like the fear cloud that often follows him along....the narrow path as he wishes it to be- illuminated, narrow, and predictable. (don't we all wish for that at times, especially when experiencing fear?) The obscured surroundings: The Unknown. The scooter.....the scooter he has ridden every day since he was 5.....his vehicle through his life journey. The triangular light lines near the center-top of the photo sort of look like mountains in the distance- obstacles he must overcome along his way.
heartphotography > "Welling Up"
This is a digitally combined watercolor and salt resist painting with images of Empress Tree blossoms.
heartphotography > "40"
A good friend sent me a retro pink bathing cap for my 40th birthday. She found it at a yard sale in Seattle. I smushed it onto my scanner, and digitally combined this image with a watercolor and salt resist painting I made. This is the result. Joy, joy, joy!
heartphotography > I am in love with swirl patterns, particularly in nature. This is a canna lily leaf during the first days of unfolding.
